Omnivex Launches Cloud Version Of Moxie Platform

April 2, 2015 by Dave Haynes

Toronto-based OmnivexMoxie-Cloud_0 has launched Moxie Cloud, billed as an easy-launch, affordable hosted spin on its powerful Movie digital signage management platform.

Moxie Cloud’s subscription includes a series of professional-looking templates to get content up even without designers or agencies. It also includes a weather feed and news from Thomson Reuters.

Moxie Cloud, says a release, is available in both a standard and premium edition.

The standard edition of Moxie Cloud is a SaaS model with templates, with management via a browser and all the back end infrastructure run by Omnivex.

Moxie Cloud Premium provides the full meal deal of Moxie Studio on an Omnivex hosted server, and the ability to tie into a broad array of data sources within a business. Omnivex, as industry vets know, has long been very big on integrating with and using live data.

I asked longtime Omnivex President Jeff Collard to clarify what the Cloud product is versus the SMB-focused  Commercial product announced last fall.

“Moxie has traditionally been sold as a premise based solution where customers manage the infrastructure,” Collard explains. “Moxie traditionally came fully loaded, so big enterprises had everything they needed in one place. We introduced Moxie Commercial last fall to better serve the mid-market customers. It is the same basic product with certain modules removed, bringing the price point down and simplifying operation since there are less options to manage.”

“With Moxie Cloud, we are hosting the server and managing the backend as a service. There are two versions of Moxie Cloud; Standard and Premium (see comparison here). Standard is intended for smaller customers who want a very simple browser based interface and predefined templates. They can use content we provide or upload their own files and messages. News and Weather services are included in both packages. Moxie Cloud Standard is intended to be quick and easy.”

“Moxie Cloud Premium is the full Moxie experience, but we manage the backend for you on our server as a subscription service. This provides a lower cost to entry and eliminates the IT burden from the customer. The service includes access to our technical support engineers; we want to do everything we can to make their installations successful so live support is included in their subscription.”

“All Moxie offerings use the same player software, so a customer can start with a very simple installation and evolve to a very sophisticated one at their own pace, without having to change hardware in the field or convert content.”
