Interactive Display Helps L’Oreal Marketers Demo AI-Driven Make-up Matching Experience

Here’s an example of a beauty brand using interactive digital display totems to drive experiences at an event.

Last month in Toronto, for an event focused on promote L’Oreal’s True Match Foundation, solutions provider Big Digital worked with MacIntyre Communications on an AR experience driven by a large interactive display, lighting and an app-loaded tablet.

This engaging experience enabled users to discover their perfect color match by using L’Oreal’s cutting-edge “Match My Shade” technology. By capturing a selfie video, this experience generated a personalized foundation shade, mirroring the results on a digital billboard.

Me explaining beauty products is borderline hilarious, but here goes: The system uses a camera and AI to capture and then analyze a subject’s skin tone against a library of some 45,000 skin tones, and then recommends a product formulation for foundation makeup that offers the closest match to that person.

In this case, the website was run on the Big Digital screen to demo and replicate the process and experience.
