Research: 60% Of Us Are Showrooming

March 14, 2013 by Dave Haynes

AdWeek has a great set of infographics up that show the depth pof the problem some retailers face with showrooming – the evidently very widespread tactic of going to a store to check out the look and feel of goods, and then leaving to then buy it for less cost online.

One of the ways to fight this, of course, is to reinforce in the messaging right on the sales floor the value and benefit of buying right then and there (using tools such as digital displays).

The data, pulled from the location analytics firm Placed, suggests three in five consumers have deliberately showroomed – gathering product information with no intention to buy at that location.
