Newad Takes Over Quebec Sports Bar Network

February 13, 2012 by Dave Haynes

Montreal-based Newad is broadening its push beyond its core poster and print/online publishing businesses, taking over advertising sales on an existing digital screen network in Quebec sports bars.

The company has announced “an exclusive indoor advertising agreement with more than fifty restaurants that make up La Cage aux Sports, a Quebec pioneer and leader in the sports resto-bars industry.”

Newad will handle all sales of advertising space for the Cage TV and AffiCage networks with ad agencies and Canada’s major advertisers, while also managing the installation, development and maintenance of the chain’s advertising network.

The announcement today follows some recently announced deals in community sports complexes and bars. Newad, like another Montreal-based company Zoom Media, has its roots in posters in restaurants, bars and fitness clubs.

“With the addition of the Cage TV network, Newad now positions itself as the most important digital advertising agency in the country, offering advertisers a total of over 2,800 screens,” says Philippe Marchessault, Executive Vice President, Operations, Development and Innovation for Newad. “This new partnership also strengthens the totality of Newad’s Indoor network, which now operates over 21,500 static and digital boards, spread out in over 3,000 establishments across Canada.”

I am fairly certain La Cage was being handled by another Montreal firm, Groupe Viva, which these days seems more focused on retail.
