Pic: Digital art in new Vegas hotel lobby
December 16, 2010 by Dave Haynes
The latest, and probably last for a long while, big resort on the Vegas strip opened this week.
The $4B, 3,000-room Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has no end of bling – it is catering to the Bellagio-Wynn crowd – but what I will want to see when next there is the digital art that evidently dominates the lobby.
Quoting the hotel:
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is committed to building a space where fresh, innovative and provocative content sits at the intersection of art and technology. Whether it’s using unique technology found no place else or challenging the tried and true assumptions about how to use familiar technologies like our 65’ marquee or in-house televisions, we infuse everything we do with an artful perspective. By commissioning work from prominent LED-artists like Leo Villareal and hosting temporary loans of video art from renowned artists like TJ Wilcox and Yoko Ono, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will feature one of the most compelling collections of new media art in the world.
