Ticker Free Day: Stop Crawling!

DailyDOOH has picked up and run with David Weinfeld’s idea of July 9th being the day when network operators concede the news headline tickers crawling across the bottoms of their digital displays achieve little, other than ensuring fewer people noticed the more important messages of ads.
Several well-regarded bloggers like David have done posts on the subject for DailyDOOH today, as well as barely tolerateded knuckleheads like me.
Assuming this works and we’ve seen the last of tickers, we’ll turn our eyes next year to buzzwords. Imagine an industry in which no one beat their chests emptily about being the global leader in cutting-edge, state of the art signage solutions that help businesses cross the chasm into the 21st century!!! What an inflection point!
Without all that blabber, companies would actually have to say what they do and why people should care. I know … a crazy thought.
