If the broadcast image is just reduced in size and not cropped or distorted, I can’t see that it’s conceptually any different from showing it on a small screen with a “Buy Potato Skins” branded bezel – unless, of course, the bars have specific agreements with the broadcast networks covering public exhibition.
It would be very interesting to hear from anyone who’s explored the legalities of this in detail, and to learn how it differs between territories.
