Skykit Releases Free Planning Guide For Digital Signage Projects

Minneapolis-based software firm Agosto, a big Google Apps partner, branched into the digital signage market a couple of years ago through an in-house spinoff called Skykit – a CMS built around Chrome.

The company has been an aggressive marketer lately, and recently came out with something I’ve not really seen before – a free and pretty comprehensive guide aimed at helping enterprise and SMB buyers make informed decisions about their technology choices.

It’s a 10-section guide that, admirably, is all but free (as far as I noticed) of self-promotional material. The only strings attached are that if you want to save a PDF to read later, Skykit wants your email for its marketing database. That said, you can just read almost all of it online without providing information other than a tracking cookie, though there are some additional tools – like an ROI framework – in the PDF.

The guide offers up the pros and cons of different options, but as you might expect, there’s a largely unstated effort to steer reader conclusions to cloud-based and Chrome OS/devices, which is what Skykit is all about.

Benjamin Schmitt, Skykit’s marketing manager and the guy who put the guide together, contacted me over the summer (I think), and I provided a few thoughts that have found their way in there. Other industry people are also quoted.
