Projects: Interactive Retail Flooring Configurator Bridges Signs And Smartphones

This is an interactive flooring selection station for retail that bridges phones and digital signs, from a company called Prendi in Brisbane, Australia.

Choices Flooring, Australia’s top flooring retailer, worked with Prendi to develop a custom digital configurator mounted on a purpose-built inspiration wall. The first one was done in 2013 and now the companies are on version 4.

Says Prendi: Over the past two years, theInspiration Station has undergone strategic development to further enhance the in-store consumer experience, which is one of the most important elements of any successful digital installation and one of the keys to Choices Flooring’s success. The latest development is Your Floor, which allows consumers to view over 2,200 different flooring options across carpet, timber, bamboo, laminate, luxury vinyl and tiles in an image of their own home.

The stations are used both independently by consumers, and as assisted selling tools by Choices staff. Work starts by taking photos of a room using a phone.

Here’s a video of how things work …
