Groupe Viva takes on Quebec ad sales for Canada's biggest c-store network

April 12, 2011 by Dave Haynes

Montreal-based Groupe VIVA has worked a deal with Toronto’s Pinpoint Media Group to sell the Quebec media inventory for the 550 Couche-Tard stores installed with Pinpoint screens.

Viva also has access to extend Quebec buys into the stores in English Canada, which operate under the Macs banner.

The chain has about 1,400 stores in all, and does screens at cash that also show the POS tally in real time to the shopper. There are also at least a coupole of screens elsewhere in the stores I have seen, including above the refrigerated drinks section.

Pinpoint also announced a deal last week for proximity marketing in its stores, working with the Bluetooth firm iSign. See if you buy the numbers, such as 85 million consumers a month (Canada has about 34 million people).
