Projects: Lululemon Puts Different Twist On Interactive Retail Mirrors

We’ve seen, for at least the last couple of years, startups and retailers taking different, often interesting stabs at interactive mirrors in retail environments. They’ve tended to be about the dressing room experience, but the athletic wear retailer Lululemon went in a decidedly different direction with a test installation at its New York flagship store.

Instead of parking the mirrors behind the scenes in the change rooms, Lululemon has one out on the floor, using it as a community notice and information board, baked inside a display that can also double as a mirror people who don’t want or need (yet) to go try stuff on.

Business Insider has a post up about the experience, including a number of pix, and impressions.

The tech is from a Calgary, Canada start-up, called Nobal Technologies. The company is something of an integrator, focused more on pulling the hardware together and then delivering it via its own Linux-driven CMS.
