Signage Solutions Company Puts Vertical Focus On Marijuana Shops
November 11, 2015 by Dave Haynes
When start-up digital signage software and solutions companies ask me for advice on how to go to market, I tend to STRONGLY encourage them to find a vertical market and make it their own.
I don’t know the folks at EYECHRONIC.TV, but I have to admire how they’ve identified an emerging vertical and gone all-in to serve it. The company bills itself as The Only Marijuana Digital Signage Solution and Content Provider.
Not surprisingly, the company is based on Denver, where legalized weed dispensaries are as common as Starbucks coffee shops.
The company does digital menu boards, self-service ordering kiosks, POS systems and most of the other digital and branding work a dispensary might need to go about its business. With more and more US states decriminalizing marijuana, and Canada possibly following in the next two or three years, it’s a vertical that has possibilities.
There is also an ad network model that enables vendors who sell gear into that space – presumably things like vaporizers – to book spots across multiple venues from on e order.
The underlying technology appears to be from eyeconic.tv – a signage solutions company based in Bowling Green, KY.
I don’t think there’s a scalable, sustainable business JUST doing menu boards for this vertical, but doing all the digital work has some real possibilities. And the on-premise installations would be interesting, to say the least. As in, “Hey man, you hung the screen upside-down … I think.”
There’s also a company expressly in the space, called Jane, that does cash management kiosk solutions for marijuana retailers.
