Here’s Holly Johnson, Business Development Manager for Kansas City-based Installation & Service Technology, Inc. (IST), on why she’s heading to Orlando and InfoComm in a couple of weeks.

1 – How many years have you been going to InfoComm?

This will be my second year at the show, and IST’s third. We have exhibited and walked at many technology shows for several years, but InfoComm has really opened our eyes to a whole new world of opportunities and we plan to attend for years to come.

Hollyj2 – What are you looking for when you go?

Networking, networking, networking. Not many end users attend the show, but our core customers are hardware and software providers as well as system integrators.

3 – Do you just walk the floor or do you hit any education sessions?

The last couple years we’ve only walked the floor, this year there are a couple sessions we plan on attending. Overall, walking the floor really allows us to spend time with our partners, as well as gain knowledge of the emerging technologies.

4 – What are the biggest changes you’ve seen in the industry, and where do you see things going?

The biggest change we’ve seen is the increase of hardware and software providers, many of which integrate together, meaning a plethora of options for end-users. It’s a given that the number of solution providers in the industry will continue to grow over the years and when you have a prospect just starting to explore the signage world, offering education is essential to differentiate yourself from the competition.

5 – Do you prefer Orlando or Vegas?

Despite the humidity, Orlando is definitely a nice change of pace from Vegas. Also, since InfoComm ends on a Friday, it’s a good excuse to stay another day and hit the beach, being from the middle of the map, Kansas City.
