Fire Destroys Avida’s Toronto Head Office

July 1, 2014 by Dave Haynes

avida-digital-signage-fireFire has destroyed the Toronto offices of the digital signage services company Avida.

CBC Toronto News reports a fire broke out this morning around 4:30 AM at the one-storey building in Etobicoke. It took 80 firefighters to get the blaze under control three hours later, but by then, the roof had collapsed, so we’ll assume whatever was inside is done, done, done.

Avida is something of an integrator and solutions provider that has been around for more than a decade. They do work primarily in auto, retail and QSR.

Hope everyone is OK (doubtful anyone was there at 4 in the morning and it is Canada Day up here, so it’s a day off for people who aren’t consultants).

The good thing about cloud, SaaS, co-location facilities and portable computing is that businesses can usually pull things together and keep running even when equipment is destroyed and there’s no formal office.
