LG Going Big And Curvy Next Week At SID
May 29, 2014 by Dave Haynes
Flat panel display can’t get a whole lot bigger, but they keep getting thinner, lighter, brighter, sharper and, ummm, curvier.
LG Display, for example, will be showing off a series of new displays at the big Society for Information Display (SID) Display Week 2014 show next week at the San Diego Convention Center.
The company will showcase 55-inch, 65-inch and 77-inch Ultra HD curved OLED TV panels, and 65-inch and 105-inch Ultra HD curved LCD TV panels. The idea of curved panels is that you can enjoy an improved immersive cinematic experience.
They’re also showing what’s pegged as the world’s largest interactive whiteboard (a 98-inch Ultra HD LCD beast) and a 47-inch transparent display. LG worked out ways to improve the transparency of the LCD layer, giving these new units three times more transparency than existing products.
