Projects: Digital OOH Prankvertising At A UK Bus Top

There’s been a run of brand-sponsored “prankvertising” videos that seem to revel in scaring the living crap out of people. They get a lot attention, but you have to wonder whether the buzz is worth all the negatives generated by stuff that borders on mean spirited and nasty.

The ones I have seen are done indoors and are a lot more elaborate and staged (and suspect – real people or actors?). But here’s a genuine one done for Pepsico at a bus shelter on a UK high street (guessing London). Aside from the asteroid shot, which would give anyone a heart attack, these pieces are all pretty playful and implausible.

I like how commuters are grabbing selfies.
