Locbit Takes Swing At Screen To Mobile Integration

The San Diego-area start-up Locbit did an interesting little screen-to-mobile integration project this past week with a PGA Tour supplier, letting golf fans scan a QR code off rented leaderboard screens temporarily positioned around Torrey Pines (famous golf course) to get the full scores at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Snapping the code launched a browser window with an HTML version of the current leaderboard, allowing golf fans then always have the current scores in their hands.

The company also did another integration piece that allowed the screen supplier, Neovision, to change content on the LED screens just using a smart phone.

Nothing overly new in either case, but a good example of a relevant use versus ones I’ve seen from software vendorsthat are not a lot more than “Look! LOOK!!! We’re using QR Codes!!!”

It is the third time the company has has tech involved with PGA Tour events in the past year.
