LG Debuts Projection System That Blasts 100-Inch Video From Inside Two Feet
January 7, 2013 by Dave Haynes
LG has its big press conference/product launch thingie at CES in Las Vegas this morning, and among the products is Hecto laser TV projector – a short-throw projector that can blast a properly composed 100-inch HD video onto a wall from less than two feet out.
The interesting kicker here is that it can pull that off on a system rated to run for 25,000 – not a fraction of that, like most projectors that use bulbs.
LG says the 1080p projector has a digital tuner and 10w speakers built-in, three HDMI inputs, an RS–232 port, Smart TV capabilities, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and WiDi (wireless HDMI) and Miracast compatibility.
The things run a laser system instead of bulbs. No price, and no indication of brightness (ie would it work in brightly lit rooms?)
I don’t see this as a true alternative to LCDs and tiles, but for a pop-up event that needs big video, hmmmm.
