Project Profile: Digital Street Furniture In Poland
January 4, 2013 by Dave Haynes
Here’s a nice looking digital street furniture rollout in the Polish province of Pomorskie province, and its capitol city Gdansk, put together by the outdoor digital enclosure firm Infinitus.
There are 75 “imotion” 46-inch single-sided touchscreen units used by locals and tourists to get on-demand city information and local business offers. The units have a smartphone look and feel that extends to the user experience.
Infinitus says they got the deal with the regional government after a lot of testing to ensure the things were reliable and up to the demands of weather and misbehaving citizens. The units have alarms, anti-graffiti coating, UPS power back-ups, and are branded with Gdansk municipality graphics.
The project was done in conjunction with DDS Poland, which manufactured another 175 42-inch screens installed in indoor locations.
