And How About $70 For A PC On A Stick?

June 7, 2012 by Dave Haynes

Many of the little PC and tablet gadgets coming out of Taiwan and China can only be found and ordered off websites that look profoundly dodgy, but this $70 Android 4.0 PC on a stick is up and ready to pre-order off Amazon, which I have heard of.

Geeky Gadgets and a few other tech blogs are reporting on this little unit that looks to be the size of a feature phone and actually plugs in and powers off USB, so in THEORY this could be powered off a digital signage display panel, eliminating a cord. In theory …

This MK802 Android mini PC has a single-core 1.5GHz AllWinner A10 processor, supported by 512MB of memory.

At some point , the whole how small can you get thing gets a little silly – as comparably huge Mac Mini or Acer digital engine is still plenty small enough to locate right at a PC. But the price point thing is interesting. A retail price of $70 is with margin for the manufacturer and Amazon. The processor (Allwinner???) apparently would cost $10 or less.

Crazy.

Funny they include a HDMI cable but DON’T include a power supply!
