Buckingham Palace Gets Projection Mapped, As Madness Plays On Roof

June 5, 2012 by Dave Haynes

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in London had a big moment last night with a concert and some great projection mapping work on Buckingham Palace – probably among the last buildings you might expect to get that treatment.

I just caught a snippet on the news and it showed Madness, the old ska/pop band from Camden Town, playing its biggest hit, Our House, on the rooftop while the palace was bathed in 3D projections that showed the palace as old east London row houses and council flats (shabby public housing). At one point a London double-decker bus rolls by.

Couldn’t find much in the way of video yet, except this

The palace has actually been projected on before, for a few days in April in a program called Face Britain.
