Belgian Travel Agency Makes The World Its Video Wall

Hat tip to OOH-TV for spotting this the other day …

Video walls seem to be an area of genuine growth in this sector, owing a lot to thinning seams and also to lowered costs. But apart from some interesting stuff done at trade shows, how often have you seen a deployed video wall (setting MicroTiles aside) that wasn’t a big four-cornered rectangle.

Right. Almost never.

So that’s why it was so refreshing to read about the Belgian travel agency Connections trying something very different at a concept store in Antwerp. It has 19 screens shaped into a world map in a wall, with a background image showing the continents and overlays showing photos, videos, social media feeds and live data – all related to travel and destinations.

It’s very clever and different. I can’t say I am blown away by the programming, which seems pretty pedestrian. But it’s a good foundation to build off, and with experience, it’s likely that will improve.

The project was put together by a company called ThisPlays2 and YCD’s software is being used to drive the wall.\

I like.
