One billion-plus ad exposures a month in Digital OOH?

October 21, 2011 by Dave Haynes

The nice folks at  The Nielsen Company kindly sent along a broader round-up of numbers from the second quarter 2011 Fourth Screen Report.

The numbers are the sum of average minute exposures for an advertiser schedule of a typical ad rotation.  The report reflects a mash-up of  traffic (Scarborough) and transaction data with demographic and qualitative data to produce gross exposures and an average minute audience for each network.

This covers 18+, while the numbers Adspace sent around earlier were 12+, if you were wondering about the discrepancy. Depending on how you look at things, TouchTunes or Adspace deliver the biggest audiences.

What’s interesting to me are the bottom lines, which suggest just these measured networks deliver almost 900 million impressions a month. Add in all those networks that Nielsen is not yet measuring, and there are many (think 12,000 Accent Health sites, for example), and the number would be well past a billion.
