RMG adds “business celebrity” Hayzlett to board
October 12, 2011 by Dave Haynes
RMG Networks have added something of a business celebrity – but one with some actual street cred – to its board of directors.
Jeffrey Hayzlett is the author of the business bestseller The Mirror Test and a former CMO for Kodak. He is now CEO of The Hayzlett Group.
“Jeffrey is a marketing celebrity and brings valuable perspective on the marketing and media landscape,” says Garry McGuire, CEO for RMG Networks.
“Traditional media plans no longer deliver results,” says Hayzlett, “and marketers are looking for new ways to activate consumers. I believe RMG’s business model is uniquely positioned to solve that problem.”
I am not a big business book reader and will admit I’ve never heard of Hayzlett, but that’s indicative of absolutely nothing.
His bio says:
Jeffrey Hayzlett led the turnaround of one of the most iconic brands in the world as the Chief Marketing Officer of KODAK with some of the most innovative approaches to marketing. Forbes Magazine calls him the Celebrity CMO.
When describing Jeffrey Hayzlett, Advertising Age says “A new style of CMO has arrived.” The bloggers in Germany have called him the “Chuck Norris of Marketing!” He’s even been described as a chief marketing officer on steroids. Jeffrey is a cowboy – literally. He hails from South Dakota, and even when he’s far from his ranch, he’s still wearing his cowboy boots!
A much sought-after speaker on topics ranging from worldwide business growth, communications, marketing social networking and mobile marketing, he is also a frequent television guest and commentator on shows such as CNBC’s The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, Fox Business News, and numerous appearances as a judge on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump.
His Linked In account actually describes himself as Global Business Celebrity. I’m not sure I would do that, but I am also quite certain I’ll never have cause to do that.
