Albregts leaves Samsung for AmEx gig

July 6, 2011 by Dave Haynes

I’ve never actually met Doug Albregts, but was impressed with what he had to say a few weeks ago when he was talking about the commercial display panel business and digital signage prospects at the DisplaySearch/InfoComm conference.

I figured I’d end up chatting with him at some point, but that’s probably not on (or relevant) now as the guys who was VP, Sales and Marketing, for the commercial/enterprise side of Samsung’s U.S. business is now (assuming Linked In is correct) a VP and General Manager at American Express.

That would end a two year stint at Samsung and put me back into a position of once again not knowing who’s in charge of the digital signage/AV business at the company.

I don’t think South Korean executives actually sleep, and have heard working for smart but utterly driven companies like Samsung and LG will tend to wear just about anyone down. Both LG and Samsung have this year lost (or bingo’d) several solid people who were leading DS efforts.

Albregts had spent a lot of time in the commercial display panel space, with NEC and then with Canvys (Richardson Electronics).
