Mixer Report: A great evening, with 70-plus
March 9, 2011 by Dave Haynes
Reviving the Toronto mixer series proved to be a great idea, and thanks to the people who nagged me about getting it together. We didn’t do a formal head-count, but I think it is entirely safe to say somewhere around 70 or more people showed up last night.
Best Buy For Business did a terrific job of greeting at the door, and making sure everyone had drink tickets and no end of appetizers. Once the food started coming out, it just kept coming. Burnaby-based Tony White added a nice touch by taking biz cards in a bowl and then drawing for a pair of Best Buy gift cards.
We had, and I will forget many, people from CODACAN, COMB, LG, HP, Dorsey Media, Adcentricity, PeopleCount, Ontario Lottery, Capital Networks, Omnivex, Pattison, Cruise Mewdia, CHMN, OneStop Media, Cineplex, Chief, Planet-Tek, Agency59 and on and on. There were a few people I didn’t get to meet and beats me who they were.
It is very likely we met briefly at the door, but I can’t name these nice people. Help!
Things started winding down around 10, but I didn’t get out of there until past 11.
Good chatter, and the venue worked well. I believe we have a new home, based on lots of positive comments. We have a segregated area at the back of the restaurant and bar that had lots of seating, controlled audio and big short-throw projection screens we can use for sponsor recognition in the future.
Thanks to all who attended. We think once a month is over-ambitious, so the plan is for a next mixer in early May. Every two months is, I think, a rational approach.
If you are interested in sponsoring or co-sponsoring, please let me know.
