Will trade ruling lower flat panel prices in Europe?

September 22, 2010 by Dave Haynes

From Chris Sava and Display Alliance News comes word that the European Union will not appeal a ruling this summer that it has to stop imposing a 14 per cent tariff on imports of high-end LCD flat panels.

The World Trade Organization had ruled that the EU was slapping on the tariff for anything bigger than 19 inches, when there should in fact be no tariff. Negotiations on when the tariff will be removes still have to happen, but in theory this means digital signage network operators and integrators should see panel prices drop of stuff coming from Asia which I’d imagine is pretty much everything.
