I doubt the processing power of a smartphone for digital signage. Flash is good but more and more networks are looking towards broadcast style content and video playback on phones is less then stellar. It would have been a good jumping off point a while back but now there are so many smaller stand alone players like, Popcorn hour, Boxee, Roku brightsign. That along with the theft factor, a phone for general public is more appealing then a small digital sign player. I’m still waiting for the perfect slim format player for retail.
