Bayer drapes former HQ in LEDs and makes a compelling media facade

The planning approvals process must have been a very, very long to get this through, but the result is very cool – an entire building draped in an LED curtain wall and showing motion graphic visuals for corporate branding.
This Media Facade is the former global headquarters for pharmaceutical giant Bayer in Leverkusen, Germany. Engadget reports the facade, put together by ag4 media facade GmbH and GKD AG, consists of 5.6 milion LEDs that cover the entire 17,500 square meters of the building, which now sits emptyy and would have been imploded otherwise.
This is one of those curtains that when you are up close looks like hell because the LED pixel pitch is very wide. But at a distance, as with LED billboards, that is a non-issue.
