Joomla Problems

Do you know specifically which component came to life as a spam emailer? I’m assuming it is a 3rd party component as Joomla I have used Joomla for websites small and large, even some for Universities and have never once had any issues with Joomla components, although I tend to stick with very reputable 3rd party components.
