Industry described as being on the cusp of a wave

January 10, 2008 by Dave Haynes

There’s a piece today in a UK online publication called What PC? — but what seems to be apiece from another publication called CRN, doing around-up on where the industry is at and where it is going.

There’s not much new to report from it if you know this space, and Content is King is dragged out one more time. But there are few interesting bits here and there.

Sony, which seems to dip in and out of this space, is reportedly behind a massive install for the French postal service.

Sears in piloting electronic shelf-edge labels in some of its stores.

And Samsung seems to be suggesting in the article that more than half of all retailers already use digital signage.

Huh???

From what I have seen, the penetration is more like 10 per cent – at least in North America. Unless they’re counting LCDs on POS systems, somehow, as digital signage.

The full piece is here.
