Screenfeed Goes Beautifully Minimal With New Spectrum Weather Service

December 15, 2016 by Dave Haynes

Loyal 16:9 blog and podcast sponsor Screenfeed just announced a very nice new subscription weather service that takes advantage of HTML5 to be highly configurable and animated.

Called Spectrum Weather, the service has a wonderfully minimalist look that flies in the face of ALL the cluttered, often cheap looking layouts that persist in the signage marketplace. These designs use soft colors and thin, muted text to get the information across in full-screen.

Users can go in and monkey around with a color picker to set a background or, leave it alone, and use the service’s color background choices which are keyed to weather. Today, in just about anywhere in Canada or the US, the screens would be blue for REALLY FREAKING COLD!!!

The HTML5 service also enables subscriber users to select and set their own image backgrounds.

The format is configurable to different aspect ratios and there’s also a footer version, if the end-user insists on multiple zones on a screen.

The service comes in English, Arabic, Czech, German, Spanish, Finnish, French, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Slovak, Chinese (Simplified), and Chinese (Traditional).

Nice to see another company really starting totap into what HTML5 can do.
