Next DSF Webinar Focused On The Boring Stuff That Really Matters

October 21, 2016 by Dave Haynes

DSF_200A lot of webinars I see promoted in this industry don’t seem to stray much off a common set of themes – the why XX is important or how to do YY stuff.

So it’s interesting to see the Digital Signage Federation promoting a Nov. 16 “Hangout” panel discussion about Accelerated Environmental Life Testing for Digital Kiosks and Displays. It reads like boring, technical stuff, but is really, really important for anyone who does procurement, ops or pays the operating bills.

The Hangout’s premise:

All displays are not created equal and those who are planning to install digital kiosks or displays in exterior locations would be wise to first establish what environmental challenges need to be accommodated beforehand to accurately determine the type of equipment that will operate successfully and continually in whatever conditions prevail.

“Hangouts” are free 45-minute a panel discussions using the Live on YouTube platform with a moderator and a panel comprised of Digital Signage professionals who are members of the DSF. The Nov. 16 panel will include:

Among other things, the panel will also discuss:

“Accelerated environmental life testing performed by an accredited laboratory helps a designer understand the positives and negatives of a design,” said Lewis. He added, “The designer needs to understand the environment in which the application needs to survive and for how long it should reasonably operate. Establishing such parameters enables the lab to create a test that will simulate those conditions within a five to seven day test. This laboratory testing can be done for a specific location or for multiple locations.

More information on the November 16 Hangout event or other DSF events can be found on the DSF website. Both DSF members and non-members may join these, or any of the DSF’s scheduled Hangout conversations for free – but registration is required and can be accessed on the DSF Event Web Page.
