STRATACACHE Buys Monster Warehouse Space In Suburban Dayton

Were there any question Chris Riegel is serious about the growth he expects at STRATACACHE in the next two or three years, consider this: the software and services company now owns a 380,000 square foot distribution facility on 50 acres in suburban Dayton.

And the address will be One Stratacache Way.

The company will be moving about 50 people over from other warehouse sites around Dayton. The city and area has a fair amount of commercial space available cheap, and local city managers anxious to do deals to get them filled and create jobs. STRATACACHE has numerous buildings in the area, including a headquarters office block it owns in the city’s downtown.

The giant building – formerly occupied by a GM parts supplier – will be used for warehousing, staging and shipping for the company, which has subsidiaries that include outdoor menuboard displays (Vertigo) and specialty displays (Optika).

Most – not all – but most software and services companies that compete for business with STRATACACHE have minimal or no space for warehousing and logistics, and use integrator, solutions providers and custom computer companies to handle that stuff, which adds to costs but doesn’t require the overhead of big-ass buildings or extra bodies.

Here’s a story in the local paper about the move, which includes a ribbon-cutting today (something Riegel would probably rate with on the fun scale alongside dental cleanings). Sadly, Riegel is in Malvern today meeting with staff at Scala, which he acquired a couple of weeks ago.
