I’m not exactly a frequent traveler to Europe, but what time I’ve had over there left me with the impression damn near everyone still smokes. So I’m not surprised a digital OOH product called Ashvertising is still around.
A reader sent me a pic (below) he grabbed of one of these hybrid screens/ashtrays outside an establishment in Brussels, Belgium. I wrote about the screens in 2008, and they are now marketed through a Belgian out of home company. There are 220 in the network, outside food service establishments. The screens run a one-minute loop of five-second spots.
