Projects: Star Wars Premiere Red Carpet Walk Flanked By Giant MicroTiles Walls

The world premiere in Los Angeles of the long-awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens? had a massive red carpet area, including a walkway with almost 400 of Christie’s MicroTiles displays.

Christie’s Coolux Pandoras Box Media Servers powered a variety of displays, including 388 MicroTiles on the walkway walls and 18 Christie LCD panels in other red carpet and photo locations  around the premiere venue. Christie pre-configured and staged much of the equipment in the company’s US headquarters, down the freeway in Orange County.

The company has done other big premieres forThe Walt Disney Company, which is bankrolling the Star Wars movie. The companies did a deal a couple of years ago that sees Christie providing the latest digital cinema technologies and a variety of professional services for the studio’s production, post-production, screening rooms and premieres. Christie already provides Disney’s Digital Studio Services Team with round-the-clock support for their digital cinema facilities.

Related/unrelated note: It looked like MicroTiles were the backdrop, as well, for last night’s Republican presidential bun-fight in Las Vegas.
