Canadian retailer Sport Chek, which sells guess what, has opened a pair of tech-filled flagship stores in Yorkdale Shopping Centre and Square One Shopping Centre, two of the largest and busiest malls in Canada. They are about 25 minutes, to three days, away from each other, depending on greater Toronto traffic.

Like an earlier flagship in the giant West Edmonton Mall, these stores, which officially opened today, are filled with all kinds interactive digital and whiz-bang display tech. I’m all but certain both of these malls previously had Sport Cheks inside or on the mall footprint.

A press release says the stores, combined, are 120,000 square feet of retail.

Providing access to best-in-class digital technology, the flagship stores deliver an enhanced customer experience through a network of digital signage, interactive technology and show-stopping installations. The stores create a retail space that engages, excites, inspires and informs the customer and includes next-generation features such as:

Square One’s 75,000 square feet has:

Yorkdale’s 45,000 square feet has:

“Our stadium of sport is reinventing sporting goods by providing an immersive and inspiring experience delivered by people that share your passion for sport and activity,” says Chad McKinnon, Chief Operating Officer, FGL Sports.

Sport Chek’s also has a flagship in suburban Vancouver’s Metrotown mall, and there is now what’s billed as a lab store – with a TSN broadcast studio – at Maple Leaf Square, just outside the venue where the NHL Leafs and NBA Raptors play.

Samsung is obviously the primary display company, based on the specs provided. Not sure about software, but the earlier jobs involved STRATACACHE and very probably these ones, as well. Safe guess that Coxcom did the installs.
