Colleen Hamilton, one of the principal’s behind the digital wayfinding/directory management software firm and consultancy Art of Context, sent along her note on why she’s getting on a plane to Orlando in a couple of weeks.

1 – How many years have you been going to InfoComm?

This is my first trip to InfoComm. I was invited by Jim Nista from Insteo to present as part of the Solution Summit: Digital Signage

2 – What are you looking for when you go?

I’m primarily going to present as part of the Data Driven Digital Signage panel on Thursday morning. That said, I’m always on the lookout for new technologies and new partners.

3 – Do you just walk the floor or do you hit any education sessions?

Unfortunately, due to schedule constraints, the trip to Florida is a quick one for me. I’m looking forward to presenting and exploring the Digital Signage Pavilion, but that’s about all I’ll have time for this trip

4 – What are the biggest changes you’ve seen in the industry, and where do you see things going?

I’ve been in the Interactive industry for over fifteen years and digital signage for the last five. The pace of change feels really fast and exciting right now.

The latest big change I’ve noticed is around omni-channel solutions, customers are getting it and requesting it. This in turn has facilitated the proliferation of HTML5 based solutions which more nimbly cross channel boundaries, and in turn made a nice entry-point for Google and their Chromebox into the field. Fun times!

5 – Do you prefer Orlando or Vegas?

Vegas! I am not a gambler but the excitement and energy of Vegas is palatable, built for grown-ups from the outset. But to be fair, my experience with Orlando has been limited to Disney World and the airport. I look forward to experiencing more of Orlando.

Colleen will be part of a Thursday morning panel discussion I’m running on a favourite subject, data-driven digital signage. Interested? You can  register here http://bit.ly/1Elex0j.
