Projects: Tim Hortons TV’s Tidy Programming Design

The Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons has been rolling out its dining area network for a few months now, but I hadn’t seen one in the wild until this afternoon, at one of my local Timmies locations.

I’m not convinced the things accomplish all that much, especially one located in a smaller footprint site where only a handful of people would even see the panel. But … I did like the programming approach. If you insist on running news feeds in a coffee shop, where any news junkie will have a smartphone or tablet fired up, at least do it well. Which the Cineplex people do.

High contrast colors. Big, easily read fonts. Not too much copy.

Nicely done. Though an organization that puts so much into youth sports and kids cancer camps would do just fine running nothing but feel-good stuff from those activities.

  1. Another thing worth noting that it’s the same ultra reliant software and hardware platform that drives the rest of the Tim Horton’s digital networks…good for media sellers and buyers to factor in.
