Sony does pro displays and video walls, but the business solution side of its business in Japan evidently doesn’t see much of a conflict in also marketing Prysm’s video display blocks in that country.

Prysm has done a deal with Sony Business Solutions Corporation that will the San Jose, CA-based company’s  Laser Phosphor Display technology distributed in Japan.

“Sony Business Solutions Corporation’s strong distribution channels will help push Prysm LPD technology into many new markets and this agreement validates the technology advantages LPD delivers,” says Amit Jain, co-founder and CEO of Prysm. “Japan is known as one of the biggest AV technology innovators in the world so it makes sense for Prysm to bolster its presence there. With the industry’s lowest energy consumption, the highest resolution and lowest total cost of ownership, Prysm LPD will quickly gain popularity across a variety of verticals in this important region.”

The Prysm display blocks are similar to Christie’s MicroTiles in form, but quite different under the hood. The company says LPD solutions deliver a uniform picture quality over life and offer contrast, fill factors and the fast response time required to provide brilliant video solutions with longer life spans. Prysm displays are the world’s greenest, designed to decrease energy costs while simultaneously providing an unparalleled viewing experience for customers. Prysm displays use up to 75 percent less energy and decrease the production of greenhouse gases by 80 percent when compared to competing LCD, LED, plasma and rear-projector videowall displays.

“Prysm is one of the most exciting AV technologies on the market right now and we are excited to  introduce it to our Japanese customer base,” said Yoshiro Shigematsu, general manager of marketing, Sony Business Solutions Corporation. ”With this agreement, we have strengthened our position as the leader in videowall distribution.”
