Mixer report

May 13, 2009 by Dave Haynes

Great crowd at the latest incarnation of the local industry mixer last night, and a great finish for me, as I JUST manged to get in the car and past the ballpark freeway exit as the hordes spilled out from the Yankees-Jays game. Jays 5-1, by the way.

My guess is about 50-55 people turned out, with a lot of new faces, including folks from eK3, X20, DDC, SRED (What’s with the acronyms?) and OnTrack. There was also most of the usual suspects.

The event was sponsored by Apple, which had at least four people on hand and had a good crowd gathered around a big monitor looking at … something (I didn’t get over there). Apple is not heavily into the DS game but does have clients doing stuff, and a Mac Mini that can run happily on XP or Linux and push out beautifully smooth video. Getting involved in the event suggests they see some real opportunity in a new line of business.

Thanks as always to Dmitry at Ingram Micro for pulling it together.
