Another week, another trade show

March 17, 2008 by Dave Haynes

GlobalShop, the massive event focused on retail merchandising, is on this week in Chicago and I am on a plane there today.

The bad news is the show is in Chicago in still blustery March. Great city, but the weather will still be fairly rotten. I like it when they did this thing in warmer climes.

The good news is it is in Chicago, as today is St. Paddy’s Day. Enough said.

I am down there as a booth monkey, working with my friends at Artisan Complete. We’ve worked together on what we believe is a very compelling product for this space, and all will be revealed tomorrow (when the news release is out and the show doors open). Will post info and pix then.

While there is a Digital Signage Day at GlobalShop, it is mostly conference sessions, with the numbers of companies actually showing there looking pretty limited. The event comes close on the heels of the Screen Expo and DSE shows and few companies in our space have bottomless marketing budgets. On the other hand, there will be 16,000 people from the retail sector milling around.

While I have booth duties, I will have more time than normal to slip away and have a look around. There are a few things, like Digital View’s battery-powered shelf-edge screens, I want to see.

Stay tuned.
